You ever feel like a run is going too well, so you decide to go screw yourself with some bad decisionmaking? Uh, yeah, not me, nope...

Spoiler alert: had been holding onto this one for a few days as I wanted to give it do-over for a deathless run, so I alt-f4ed after dying at extract to keep the mission (that means no mission end screen, sorry, though I'm fairly sure I got all objectives and outposts - 5 sub-objectives, up to 6 outposts on helldive difficulty).

Then the new patch hit yesterday - while I could give the mission another go, I think this run is a nice snapshot of what the spawns were like on patch 1.000 101 - i e. when the spawn rate on heavily armoured enemies was buffed and before the nerf to the Charger head HP. Nasty, but still soloable...the free mech sure helps too!

Build:

With some juicy buffs to the flamer, I knew it was time to give a pyro build another go. This thing cooks Chargers now - this run was done before yesterday's patch, yet even without the nerf to Charger head HP, it kills them quick with focused fire to the leg.

Backing up around corners / cover is the best strat IMO, as they'll hit the cover and get stunned, making their legs easy pickings. Using corners also helps to funnel enemies, making the most of the flamer's AOE damage - if you aim at their feet, you'll be setting groundfires as well as doing direct damage. The flame nades can be useful for setting up groundfires at chokepoints too, especially during your flamer reloads.

All-in-all a great weapon now for taking on not only trash but tankier enemies too. Titans will still need fire support, but that's why we're bringing the 500kg!

Its kryptonite? Hunters. Those things will leap right over your flames and get in your face before your fire can DoT them, but that's where the Incendiary Breaker comes in. With the magazine nerf to the standard Breaker, the Incendiary gets to shine as it still one-shots Scouts and Hunters, yet its spray and large mag makes it ideal for taking out those big scout patrols, as well as doing decent burst damage on any tougher enemies.

The Shield backpack took a nerf in the last patch, allegedly...but trying it out again this thing is still crazy powerful. With the flamer playstyle forcing you into long magdumps at a walking pace at close range, the shield backpack can really help you stay in the mix without interrupting your stream of fire so often.

Of course, no fire build would be complete without the Napalm Strike - while not quite as all-purpose as something like an Eagle Airstrike, it is very useful for trash clear and also setting up a brief barrier while you try and lose a pesky horde.

With all those bug holes to fill and no specialised stratagem or weapon for it, I went with one of the armours with extra grenade capacity, meaning fewer trips to the resupply when taking on one of the heavy nests. I also went with medium armour for the extra protection while flaming, and...ok ok, I mainly picked it because the bright orange matches with the Incendiary Breaker. Fashion is meta.

PS: been really overwhelmed by all the views, subs and comments from everyone, you guys are great ha. Not used to my vids getting this much attention, I'm not someone who's set out to be a full-on content creator, I just get a liiittle obssessive about certain games sometimes. Hope I can keep up a more regular upload schedule and keep y'all entertained!

Probably spent a little too much time trying to redo this run and turning down games with friends, so will probably have some coop gameplay coming up next!
